Changes To Reporting For Ads Traffic

Google will enhance its acquisition reporting for ad traffic as part of the new update. Installs from Google Ads campaigns will now be included in reporting for third-party referrals.

Previously, Google Play Search and explore data were combined with installs from Google Ads campaigns.

Metrics getting affected by this update are – 

  • Google search
  • Google explore
  • Third-party referrals

In addition to the above change – visits to the inline install overlay* are also included in reporting. 

(*The inline install overlay shows your Play Store listing inside other apps. For example, to allow installing your app from ads.)


Metrics and dimensions information:

Google Play searchThe number of users who visited your store listing after performing a search on Google Play and then installed your app, who didn’t have it installed on any other devices at the time.
Google Play exploreThe number of users who visited your store listing from Google Play, but not from search results, and then installed your app, who didn’t have it installed on any other devices at the time.
Third-party referralsThe number of users who visited your store listing from outside Google Play and then installed your app, who didn’t have it installed on any other devices at the time.
